View Webinar Details
This presentation will provide an overview of forensic botany and its application within medicolegal investigations. Emphasis is placed on the identification and interpretation of botanical evidence, including pollen, plant fragments, root systems, and aquatic indicators such as algae and diatoms, to support scene analysis, linkage of victims and suspects, and postmortem interval estimation. The presentation will examine methodological approaches (morphological and molecular), patterns of plant dispersal and transfer, and the ecological responses of vegetation to disturbance, including clandestine burial. Integration with other forensic disciplines and considerations related to evidentiary value and admissibility will also be addressed.
