ACO as First Responder: The role of ACO, while incredibly rewarding, can also put the professional in a variety of emotionally challenging and stressful situations. In this course, Dr. Janet Hoy-Gerlach shares the importance of identifying various traumatic responses as well as techniques ACOs can use to care for themselves and others in traumatic environments

Future of Field Services: In this course, NACA Executive Director Jerrica Owen discusses the initiatives that aim to involve residents in addressing issues related to the management and welfare of animals in their neighborhoods

Animal Control Intake of Free Roaming Cats: Taught by NACA Executive Director Jerrica Owen, this course provides an overview of the challenges of addressing community cats as well as a discussion of NACA’s position and policy for this ever-growing issue

 Uncovering Bias in Animal Control: Taught by San Diego Humane Chief of Law Enforcement Jace Huggins, this course addresses how bias in all of its forms can make its way into our profession, as well as what we each can do to make our roles as an agency fairer and more just for the communities we serve

Introduction to Disaster Response for ACOs:  Disasters come in a variety of forms and can have wide-ranging implications for the communities we serve. Taught by Emergency Response Specialist John Peaveler, this course provides an overview of preparedness and response, including the unique challenges faced by Animal Control Professionals
